Dear Berkshire Visitor,

Thank you for your interest in the Chesapeake Inn (a Tanglewood Business Partner).  We feature:

  Four guestrooms with full, private, ceramic tiled baths;

  •   Three guestrooms with queen-sized beds;
  •   One guestroom with a queen-sized bed; and a twin-sized, custom built murphy bed;
  •   Central air-conditioning in the bedrooms;
  •   WI-FI HOTSPOT:  High-speed, wireless, internet access;
  •   a 75 foot, in-ground, heated, lap pool.

We pride ourselves on the personal services provided to our guests.  For example, your full "Whatever You Want and Whenever You Want" breakfast will include your personal selections.  Snacks are provided throughout the day and evening.  During the summer season, fresh cut flowers are in each room, and every room has 2 windows with flowered window boxes.  You are encouraged to use the grounds and barbecue.  On Saturday evenings, we offer a complimentary BBQ during the summer season.

It is only 1/4 mile from the Chesapeake Inn to Tanglewood's East Gate. This is an easy stroll for most people. It is 1 mile to the center of Lenox. It is less than 1 mile to Kripalu.

The rates for the 2012 summer season are $299 - 499/night plus tax during the weekends and special events (Tanglewood on Parade, Boston Pops, etc.), and $133 - 249/night plus tax mid-week.  There is no mandatory gratuity/service charge.  With some exceptions, a minimum stay is required in conjunction with Friday/Saturday night during the summer.  A complimentary weekend night, if available, is included with a 3-night weekend stay.  With a 2-night midweek stay, a 3rd midweek night may be offered at no charge.

We look forward to sharing the Berkshire experience with you.  If you have any special requests, please let us know.

Respectfully,

John Sporck, Your Innkeeper

FAQ

Q.  Why should I stay at The Chesapeake Inn of Lenox?

A.  Each guest's satisfaction and comfort are our primary concerns.  You will receive personal attention that will make your stay an experience to be remembered fondly.  We are only satisfied when you want to come back.

Q.  How close is Tanglewood?

A.  It is 138 steps from the end of the Chesapeake Inn's driveway to the Highwood Entrance.  It is only 1/4 mile to Tanglewood's East Gate.  Unless a guest has a physical disability, it is an easy stroll.  And after the concert, you avoid the traffic backup that can last as long as 2 hours.

Q.  Does The Chesapeake Inn offer any unusual amenities?

A.  The Chesapeake Inn has a 75 foot, heated, inground, lap pool.  It is available for use 24 hours per day.  Free high-speed wireless internet access is provided.

Q.  What meals are available?

A.  A full breakfast is served each morning.  You may order whatever you want and eat whenever you want.  You will not be limited to a specific menu and hours.  Because there are only 4 guest rooms, we buy breakfast supplies based upon your personal desires.  Let us know what you want.  The innkeeper's day starts by doing the daily shopping.  A complimentary BBQ is offered on Saturday evenings during the summer season.  This allows our guests to avoid the hassle of restaurants during their busiest night of the week.

Q.  When is breakfast served?

A.  You are on vacation, and your breakfast will be served whenever you want.  If you have an opportunity to sleep late, why not?

Q.  Can we get a newspaper in the morning?

A.  The Chesapeake Inn provides morning newspapers.  Whenever possible, newspapers from each guest's home area are available.

Q.  Are any other meals served?

A.  We encourage guests to sample the many fine restaurants that Lenox offers.  Of course, guests may store food in the refrigerator and use the barbecue.  Because The Chesapeake Inn is small, and it is possible for us to accommodate guests' dietary considerations.  A complimentary barbecue is available on Saturday evenings.  This lets you avoid the restaurant hassle on this evening.

Q.  How many guest rooms does The Chesapeake Inn have?

A.  Four

Q.  What are the rooms like?

A.  Each room has a queen-sized bed; a full, private, ceramic-tiled bath, and central air-conditioning.  The central air is very quiet.  Each room has 2 windows on opposite walls.  Each window has a flower box.  Also, a small vase of fresh-cut local flowers are in each room.  Each room is different and has its own features. 1 of the rooms also has a twin-sized murphy bed.

Q.  Are there any public rooms?

A.  There are 2 public rooms (the dining room and the living room)  Of course it is not unusual for guests to congregate in the kitchen.  There are numerous sitting areas outside under the willow trees, around the pool, and elsewhere.

Q.  What is check-in and check-out time?

A.  Normally mid-afternoon for check-in, and late morning for check-out.  But we can almost always accommodate any requests, whether it is arriving early or leaving late.

Q.  Do you allow children?

A.  Children 12 years of age and older are welcome.  We are restricted because of considerations regarding the swimming pool and other guests.  We will consider exceptions on an individual basis.

Q.  Is smoking allowed?

A.  No smoking is allowed inside the inn.  If a guest chooses to smoke outside the house, it is requested that they extinguish their smoking materials and dispose of the remnants in the dumpster.

Q.  Are pets accommodated?

A.  Unfortunately, we have no accommodations for pets.  There are several kennels in the area and we can assist you in arranging their services.  If you have a carrier for you pet and it is quiet, you can utilize our barn.

Q.  Is parking available?

A.  There is free parking on the premise.

Q.  Are any business services available?

A.  Free high-speed wireless internet access is available.

Q.  Are credit cards accepted?

A.  AX, VISA, and Master Card are welcomed.

Q.  What service charges and/or gratuity charges are added to the bill?

A.  The Chesapeake Inn does not add a mandatory service charge or gratuity charge to your bill.  Such charges are deemed to be your personal choice.

Q.  What is the payment and cancellation policy?

A.  50% of the stay's cost is requested as a deposit.  The balance is requested 2 months prior to arrival.  If a cancellation is made more than 2 months before the scheduled arrival, a full refund is given.  Within the 2 months prior to arrival a full refund is given provided that the room can be re-rented.  Any deviation from this will be explained in your confirmation.  The Chesapeake Inn does not have a service charge associated with cancelling a reservation. Your reservation is guaranteed.  We do not overbook.

Q.  Does the Chesapeake Inn accept online reservations?

A.  No, we do not have this capability.  As a small inn, we appreciate the opportunity to "meet/talk with" our guests when they make a reservation.  Also, we've found that this leads to a better experience for our guests.  We make every effort to answer your phone calls and emails immediately.

RESERVATIONS

Because we only have 4 guest rooms, we do not utilize an automated system.

 Your phone call (800.966.3429) or email will be either answered directly or very shortly after your inquiry. This is a promise.
